FitBit Flex Review for ProductTestingUSA.com

I was selected to review a FitBit Flex for Product Testing USA.  I had my eye on one for a little while now so I was super excited to run it thru its paces.

The package arrived on the exact day it was expected from amazon.com and it was left at my front door.  The FitBit itself was in a tall stylish package that displayed the Fitbit nicely on a stand with all the accessories hidden from sight below it.  The accessories included a small wristband (the large wristband was apart of the Fitbit display), a tracker (the brain of the FitBit), a charging cable, and a wireless sync dongle (for use if one does not have a phone or table to sync the FitBit information to).

I received the stylish, yet more discrete black color.   I found the FitBit Flex to be lightweight and designed for a comfortable wear.

I quickly downloaded the FitBit app on my iPhone and was able to do the complete set-up on the same day that I received my FitBit since it only required the Fitbit to be partial charged and my Fitbit arrived with 2 of the 3 charge “dots” that I needed.  I was sync-ed with my phone and able to see my progress in the FitBit app whenever I desired.   Buyers with non-compatible phones can download the software to their computers and sync their FitBit’s information with the included USB wireless sync dongle.

The FitBit app allows you to use default goals or set you own.  It tracks activity (steps, miles, active minutes, and allows you to input your exercise), calories (how many calories burned, as well as allowing input of calories eaten, food plan information, and water consumption), and last but not least it tracks your sleep.   That app allows you to visual see all the data your FitBit is collecting.  The actual band allows you to visual see such things as: how close you are to reaching your step and visual confirmation of when you have entered and exited sleep mode via a series of taps and the pattern of dots that show up on the band.

I felt the FitBit Flex was fairly accurate in assessing how many steps I’ve taken in the day, as well, in my sleep patterns.  I tend to be a restless sleeper and the band was able to break down how often I was awake (up and moving), how often I was restless, and how much overall sleep I had gotten that night.  I found any naps taken to during the day would be added into the overall sleep for that day, but were not as accurate for me since I am able to lay still without sleeping easier during the afternoon than I am able to at night.  The band’s lightweight and small footprint also made it a fairly comfortable band to sleep in.  Once in a while, I would catch it on my pillow since I’m a die-hard side sleeper, but it was not bothersome for me to miss out on sleep tracking information.

The FitBit app with a also allows you to set an silent alarm that will wake the band wearer via vibrations.  A handy feature when your the only the one that really needs to be awake in the  household on any particular day.  The silent alarm can be set as a one time occurrence or as a multiple day alarm.   Note: use of the silent alarm feature will eat away the battery slightly faster making the FitBit Flex last shy of its normal 7 day charge.

Overall, I give the FitBit Flex a 5 out of 5 for delivering what it promises.  I loved being able to check on my progress in the app and challenging myself to meet my goals.  It is a great and affordable entry into tech tracking technology and perfect for the individual who wants to track their activity and sleep without all the distracting screen alerts of the bigger bulkier tracking bands.  I would recommend it to anyone who has these goals in mind.

Thank you Product Testing USA for this testing opportunity!
